Supporting Indigenous People

Here is a collection of resources to materially support local Indigenous people and tribes. While it is important to acknowledge the land and its peoples, we must put actions behind our words.

Support Indigenous Land Rematriation

Donate to yəhaw̓ to help them build their permanent home for Indigenous arts and culture in South Seattle. Through artmaking and ecological education, they are creating a welcoming community hub where interdisciplinary Indigenous creatives can connect with each other and the earth. They see themselves as a small seed in the broader land rematriation movement, and as the beneficiaries of a long legacy of Indigenous organizing that came before them.

Pay Real Rent and Sign the Petition for Federal Recognition of the Duwamish Tribe

Real Rent calls on people who live and work in Seattle to make rent payments to the Duwamish Tribe. All funds go directly to Duwamish Tribal Services (DTS) to support the revival of Duwamish culture and the vitality of the Duwamish Tribe.

Resist the Tacoma LNG

Puget Sound Energy (PSE) has built a massive fracked gas facility on the ancestral tideflats of the Puyallup Tribe. And yet the Tribe was never consulted about this dangerous project on our homeland. Voice your dissent.

Volunteer with the Suquamish Foundation

Support the Suquamish tribe and their foundation with events, fundraising, or administrative work.
