Our

Programs

Our programs are by and for QTBIPOC. We execute programs that fill the gaps of services provided by other local organizations, collectives and groups —aiming to meet the emotional and material needs of local Black and brown queer and trans people.

Leadership Institute

The Alphabet Institute is a six-month-long mentorship program for QTBIPOC in the Puget Sound region. The goal of the Institute is to introduce participants to local changemakers and their work, while fostering new relationships with their fellow cohort members.

Events

Open House

Once a year we host a groovy open house to showcase all we’ve worked on the previous year and what we hope to work on in the upcoming year, as well as invite new members into the Alliance. This is a great opportunity to meet Alliance members, hear about our work, and figure out ways to get plugged in.

Policy Lunch & Learns

To continue to uplift our Community Policy Report and the Black Trans Thriving Platform, AAoC meets monthly with various City, County and State employees and elected officials that have a vested interest in supporting grassroots efforts for change.

These Policy Lunch & Learns are a space for QTBIPOC to keep up with policy and advocacy on a city, county and state level.

Workshops

AAoC hosts quarterly workshops that cover a variety of topics —all geared towards the needs and desires of queer and trans Black and brown people in Seattle King County. While our workshops are grounded in the Puget Sound region, they are often open to all QTBIPOC, anywhere they live. Check out our calendar for details!

Hybrid Coworking

In partnership with API Chaya’s Queer Network Program, AAoC hosts monthly hybrid co-working spaces for QTBIPOC anywhere to work on anything they want. The in person spaces are hosted at QTBIPOC-owned cafés or spaces in the region. No RSVP necessary, find the zoom link and location on our Events Calendar or on our IG!

Alliance Member Meetings

Every fourth Wednesday of the month, AAoC’s General Alliance meets to break bread, share our triumphs and our struggles, and to participate in facilitated skill shares. We move at the pace of trust and value every member for all of who they are. We support each other in these meetings beyond our professional and organizing roles.

Community Highlights

AAoC is grounded in relationship building, patience, and interconnectedness. With these things in mind, we have hosted intergenerational pen pal programs, interviewed over 70 community members, and hosted a wide range of workshops.
